Style and function entwine in this Ahmedabad apartment

The site 

This is a 1,800-sq-ft duplex apartment located in Ahmedabad. When interior designer Vidhi Karan Teraiya of Vivid Decor was handed the site, it was just an empty box.

The brief 

“The client wanted their place to look neat and beautiful, and, at the same time, pay attention to functionality,” says the designer.

The civil intervention

The balcony in the living room was brought indoors, instantly creating a feeling of spaciousness. 

A home tour

The living room features a roomy four-seater sofa. The raised balcony extension adds a charming touch, with eye-catching wall art.

Moving to the dining area, bronze-tinted mirror panelling brings in elegance. The dining table brings together marble and brass. The beige kitchen features a versatile crockery cabinet, seamlessly doubling as a serving station. 

As you ascend the staircase, you encounter traditional Indian wall art, infusing the area with cultural flair. Even the glass railing is adorned with painted elements, adding charm at every turn.

In the parents’ room, the bed boasts leather-finished tufted back panelling, adorned with metal memoirs and backed by floral wallpaper, creating a layered masterpiece. A cosy seating area invites conversation, concealing storage beneath. The pentagon wardrobe, finished in a luxurious velvet laminator, adds opulence. Mauve tones envelop the room, evoking serenity.

In the modern master bedroom with direct access to the terrace, sleek design details abound. From the striking stripes on the walls and floors to the exquisite veneer finishes and Italian marble accents, elegance is everywhere. 

Upstairs, in the daughter’s room, safety meets style, with a cleverly designed safety grill framing the seating area. The custom French bed, polished in sophisticated black, sets an elegant tone, while PU-finished wardrobes and a seamlessly aligned restroom door add modern flair.
